Backup power supplies
Backup power supplies for special equipment are available in the form of sealed 12–27V nickel-cadmium storage batteries of the "Garantija" series with built-in chargers and programmable battery monitoring and control devices, as well as automated battery packs with an output voltage of 220 V.
Backup / uninterruptible power supply based on the “Garantija 20/24” battery are a set of sections, each of which operates according to a specified control program. In this case, one of the sections performs the functions of an uninterruptible power supply, smoothing the voltage dips of the main consumer power supply and compensating for short-term interruptions in the power supply. The other is a backup power supply and is connected to the load after the capacity of the first section is exhausted, providing the specified battery life for the consumer with a long absence of main power.
"Research and Technology Centre “ANK” Ltd has developed a number of automated complexes based on sealed nickel-cadmium storage batteries of the Garantia type with a capacity of 15-60 A ∙ h - backup power supplies of direct current with a rated voltage of 220 V, power from 1 to 10 kW.
The complexes include a set of battery sections KCSL15, KCSM15, KCSL20, KCSM30, KCSM60 with a rated voltage of 6 (12) V, a charger, a programmable system for sectional monitoring and control of battery operation, switching and signal elements. The complexes are assembled in dashboards of reinforced construction (“Heavy-Duty”) of IP54 protection degree, equipped with a temperature control and maintenance device.
The product provides the following functions:
- 220 V stabilized current battery charge with sectional control and charge process control;
- automatic switching of the battery from the “charge” mode to the “reserve” mode (recharge);
- automatic connection of the battery to the load (consumer) when the voltage of the redundant network disappears;
- automatic inclusion of the battery in charge mode when restoring the voltage of the redundant network or “reserve” (recharge) after short-term shutdowns; automatic disconnection of the battery from the load after the battery capacity is exhausted.
The design provides for the presence of a light indication of the operating mode and the possibility of transmitting a signal about the inclusion of the battery in the load circuit (consumer) to an external console. The complex is controlled by the internal processor device according to the installed program with the specified values of the control parameters or using an external computer, if during operation it is necessary to quickly change the values of the control parameters or to monitor the state of each battery section during battery charge and discharge.
The complex can be equipped with additional DC / DC converters (for example, an uninterruptible power supply IBP-24/100 with a power of 2 kW, based on a "Garantija 100 / 24L" battery) or a DC / AC inverter. The product provides for internal redundancy of the power of the control processor in case of loss of the main power ~ 220 V of the complex.

The automatic control system of backup power supplies with a capacity of 3 kW or more is built on the basis of IBM PC compatible programmable controllers ADAM-5510, which monitor the status and operating modes of rechargeable batteries.
Complexes with a power of 1-2 kW are equipped with rechargeable batteries with built-in universal logic modules LOGO! (Siemens), providing automatic battery shutdown when they are charged or discharged upon reaching the set voltage values and are distinguished by the ability to quickly, if necessary, reprogram the batteries during their operation.
Charge / recharge modes, connecting the battery to the load in the event of a consumer power failure and indication of the operation mode of the complex are controlled by a control device also built on the basis of the LOGO! Logical module.
The indication displayed on the front panel of the batteries allows you to visually record the battery turning off from the charge mode when a full charge capacity is received and turning it off from the load circuit when the minimum allowable discharge voltage specified by the control program is reached.
The backup power supplies are equipped with a temperature control system inside the product, including forced ventilation when the temperature exceeds the set threshold value.
